Throughout my 6 years as Headteacher at Holy Family, Paul has proven himself as a tremendous asset to our school and an invaluable member of staff. PE & sport is incredibly popular and we feel very proud to be one of the first 100 schools in England to be awarded the prestigious Platinum School Games Mark. These positive attitudes and achievements are down, in no small part, to the inspirational work Paul does with children from Reception to Year 6.
His class management is exceptional due to the very strong example he sets and the positive relationships he enjoys with staff and children. Paul’s curriculum teaching sessions provide an outstanding learning experience for the children. They are planned thoroughly allowing children to build on prior skills and knowledge, face suitable challenges or extension tasks and consolidate learning. He maintains a very successful cycle of very clear teaching, pacey learning, intervention & support and constant challenge. Children love PE lessons and it frequently tops the charts in the favourite lesson category!
One of Paul’s greatest strengths is his ability to understand and work positively within the school ethos and culture. This means he is seen by everyone as a full member of staff even though he only works 2 days a week at Holy Family. He has acted as a mentor for boys across the school and they respond very positively to his encouragement and praise. He has also worked alongside many of our teaching staff with great success to help them up-skill their PE teaching and led staff training on outstanding PE & sports lessons.
Paul adopts a very positive approach to all tasks he undertakes. He sets himself very high standards and works at a consistently outstanding level. He is reliable, adaptable and his attendance is excellent. We feel very fortunate that our children continue to benefit from his leadership, guidance and direction.
